Auspicious Austria, September 9, 2008
I arrived a little jetlagged from Alaska. As we flew East into the sunrise at 34,000 feet, I had a super long meditation while listening to some very long Ali Akbar Khan morning ragas that transported me into another time and space. My friend Sascha Delburg picked me up at the airport on a warm and sunny afternoon.

Romana and Sascha Delburg are my hosts here. Their studio is YogaWerkstatt. The studio is recently opened and I am lucky to be their first workshop. The workshop is sold out, students are warm, very attentive, receptive. I am luck that most of them speak very good english. This is the first leg of my European tour.

The city Vienna Austria is so impressive and beautiful. Before World War 1 & 2, Austria was the most cosmopolitan city in all of Europe. There are so many old and beautiful buildings and churches here - it is stunning. The Danube River runs through the city. Yesterday, I swam in a pool on a barge on a channel of this river in the middle of the city. Lots of cafes and pubs here. Vegetarian restaurants are not too popular here. Yesterday I found a veggie cafe...we are really spoiled in San Francisco!

Tomarrow is my 43rd birthday. I will teach a Mysore class in the am, sightsee & swim in the afternoon, Kirtan in the late afternoon at YogaWerkstatt, then off to Germany via train on 9-11. Aloha!
